              REPENTANCE

Once upon a time, in a dense forest, there lived a cunning wolf named Varg. Varg was known for his sly nature and often tricked the other animals to get what he wanted. Despite his reputation, he longed for friendship but didn’t know how to earn it honestly.

One hot summer day, the forest was in the grip of a severe drought. Waterholes dried up, and the animals were desperate for water. Varg, too, was thirsty, but his cunning mind was at work. He noticed a small stream that still had some water left, hidden deep within the forest.Instead of sharing this knowledge with the other animals, Varg decided to keep it to himself. He thought, "If I control the water, I can make the animals give me whatever I want in exchange for a drink."He quickly spread the word that he had found water but demanded food, respect, and servitude in return for access to it. The desperate animals, having no other choice, agreed. They brought Varg food and followed his orders, but deep down, they resented him.

One day, a wise old owl named Hoot approached Varg. "Varg," Hoot said, "I see you have found water and gained power, but at what cost? The animals obey you out of fear, not respect. Friendship and respect are earned through kindness, not cunning."Varg, stubborn as he was, dismissed Hoot's advice. "Respect? Friendship? Those are for the weak. Power is what matters," he scoffed. As days passed, the animals grew more resentful and began to search for water on their own. Eventually, they discovered a hidden spring far away from Varg’s stream. United by their struggle, they no longer needed Varg’s water or his control.Isolated and alone, Varg felt the sting of loneliness. He wandered the forest, realizing that his power meant nothing without companionship and respect.

One evening, as he sat by his stream, he saw a young deer struggling to find water. In a moment of clarity, Varg approached the deer and led it to the stream without asking for anything in return.

The deer was grateful and told others about Varg’s unexpected kindness.Slowly, the animals started to see a change in Varg. He began to share his resources willingly and helped others without expecting anything in return. The animals, in turn, started to respect and befriend him.Varg learned that true power lies in compassion and that respect is earned through acts of kindness. From that day on, he used his cunning not to deceive but to help others, and he was never lonely again.

And so, the once cunning wolf became a beloved member of the forest community, proving that it’s never too late to change and do the right thing.
