Beat the Plastic Pollution

Chronicles of Mind

Hello! Dwellers of the Blue Planet🌎🏞️💐

Its time to share a few lines about world Environment Day-2025.

*Every year World Environment day is observed on June5 th.

* It is led by United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP)

* Each year, the event focuses on a particular theme that addresses critical environmental issues.

* Theme of this year(2025) is "Ending of Plastic       Pollution."

*This theme underscores the need for collective efforts to reduce plastic waste and transition towards sustainable alternatives, highlighting the interconnectedness of human health, wildlife conservation, and environmental integrity.

* This year(2025) World Environment day is hosted by Republic of Korea.

Why this theme chosen?

*Plastics have become an integral part of modern life due to their versatility, durability, and low cost.
 * According to the United Nations, approximately 300 million tons of plastic are produced globally each year, with a substantial portion ending up in landfills and natural habitats, threatening marine life and the delicate balance of our ecosystems.
*Theme calls for innovative solutions that not only minimize plastic production but also encourage responsible consumption and disposal practices.

  Need of Awareness:

*This theme serves as  a reminder  for both individual and collective action.
By recognizing the severity of the plastic pollution, It encourages measures to overcome this threat.
 * So This global event emphasizes that environment protection is not  the responsibility of policymakers or corporations but also requires active participation from every individual.

Let's have a glance at How Plastic Pollution Impacts Climate Change:

Plastic is made from fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas)

Production and incineration of plastic emits 850 million tonnes of greenhouse gases annually

Projected to reach 2.8 billion tonnes per year by 2050 if unchecked

Worsens global warming and threatens Ecosystem.

Introspective Lessons:

* Avoid single-use plastics: bags, bottles, straws, cutlery

* Carry reusable alternatives

* Participate in clean-up drives and awareness campaigns

* Support eco-friendly products and responsible brands

*Segregate waste at home and work

* Join digital and offline awareness initiatives like  creating and Posters, Pomphlets, Videos conducting Rallies,Debates, Elocutions, Seminars etc. to get wide range of Public awareness.

  Why did Today Matters?

*  In view of World Environment Day 2025, Andhra Pradesh National Green Corps(APNGC) in collaboration with ECHO India  conducted an online program on Environment.
*The program was aired by the expertise of Mr Neelakantaiah(State Coordinator) and various other resource persons like Padma Gunde( Director, Anyadha Foundation ), Nishtha & Aditi ( ECHO).
* I have attended the programme
* The program was aimed to create great awareness and action against this pressing environmental challenge. The session has rightly underlined the role and duties of each individual to protect the Planet from Plastic disaster

Plastic is a moment's use, but a lifetime's harm.
   So

Dear Earthlings!
Show love to nature, say no to plastic.
