How Much Land Does a Man Need?"

Hello Readers!🙏📖📖

Let's have a glance at a bedtime story, which I read today.

Once there lived a poor farmer named Pahom, who believed that if he had more land, he would be perfectly happy. He started off with a small piece of land and worked hard. But soon, he wants more and more land. His desire keeps growing, and he became greedy. Author uses this character to show how human desires can become endless.

One day, Pahom heard about a group of people called the Bashkirs, who were willing to give him as much land as he can walk around in a single day—for a small price. Excited by this opportunity, he travelled  there and accepted the challenge. But there was one condition: he must return to the starting point before sunset, or he would lose everything. Greedy for more land, Pahom walked a very long distance, trying to cover as much land as possible.

As sunset approached, Pahom realized he had gone too far. He ran back with great difficulty, reaching the starting point just as the sun sets. However, the extreme effort is too much for him—he collapsed and died.

In the end, he was buried in a small grave. The story ends with a powerful message: "Six feet of land is all a man really needs."

Moral:  This story teaches us that greed can lead to our downfall, and we must be content with what we have.
