CAUSES OF ABNORMAL BEHAVIOUR

A number of conditions have been identified that influence unhealthy development of the individual. Among them most important are

    * Bodily Constitution 
    * Maternal deprivation 
    * Early Psychic trauma 
    * Pathogenic family patterns 
    *Social pathology 

   

Genetic Causes

Traits and disorders can be inherited from parents through genes.
These may increase the risk of mental or emotional problems.

2) Bodily Constitution

Physical health, body structure, and brain functioning influence behavior.
Weak health or neurological issues can affect emotional development.

3) Maternal Deprivation

Lack of mother’s love, care, or emotional bonding in early life.
It can lead to insecurity, anxiety, and poor social relationships.

4) Early Psychic Trauma

Painful or shocking experiences in childhood affect the mind deeply.
These may cause fear, stress, and long-term emotional problems.

5) Pathogenic Family Patterns

Unhealthy family environments disturb a child’s personality development.
Negative interactions at home can lead to behavioral issues.

i) Rejection

When a child feels unwanted or unloved by parents.
It leads to low self-esteem and emotional insecurity.
ii) Overprotection

Excessive care and control restrict a child’s independence.
It makes the child dependent and less confident.

iii) Unrealistic Demands

Parents expect more than the child’s ability.
This creates stress, fear of failure, and frustration.

iv) Faulty Discipline

Inconsistent or harsh punishment confuses the child.
It leads to disobedience or fear-based behavior.

v) Undesirable Models

Children imitate bad behavior shown by elders.
This results in negative habits and poor character.

vi) Inadequate Families

Families fail to meet emotional or basic needs of the child.
It causes neglect and hampers proper development.

vii) Disturbed Families

Families with conflict, violence, or instability.
It creates stress, fear, and emotional imbalance in children.

  6) Social Pathology

Unhealthy social conditions like poverty, crime, and discrimination.
